Omaha Hi/Low: General Outline

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is often times viewed as one of the most complex but popular poker variations. It is a variation that, even more than regular Omaha poker, aims for play from every level of players. This is the main reason why a once irrelevant game, has expanded in acceptance so quickly.
Omaha 8 or better starts exactly like a regular game of Omaha. Four cards are given out to every player. A sequence of wagering follows where players can wager, check, or drop out. Three cards are handed out, this is known as the flop. Another sequence of betting happens. Once all the gamblers have either called or folded, another card is flipped on the turn. Another sequence of wagering ensues and then the river card is revealed. The gamblers will have to make the strongest high and low five card hands using the board and hole cards.
This is where a number of players can get baffled. Contrasted to Holdem, in which the board can be every player’s hand, in Omaha hi low the player must utilize exactly three cards on the board, and exactly 2 hole cards. The lower hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an eight and lower. The lower hand wins half of the pot, as just like the high hand. When there is no low hand presented, the high hand wins the complete pot.
It may seem complex initially, after a couple of hands you will be able to get the fundamental nuances of the game easily enough. Since you have people betting for the low and wagering for the high, and since so many cards are being used at the same time, Omaha 8 or better provides an exciting assortment of wagering possibilities and because you have numerous individuals battling for the high, as well as a few battling for the low hand.
